Sir,

I have the honour to transmit a copy of a letter from the Auditor covering a copy of a report by the Assistant Auditor on a recent complete stocktaking of the Medical Stores.

Mr. Cable, the Apothecary, is at present on leave of absence in England and is not due to retum to Hongkong until February. I should therefore be obliged if you would communicate these documents to him and request him to explain his actions. Unless he can give a satisfactory explanation I consider that he should be called upon to resign his post in the public service.

3.

Pending the receipt of Mr. Cable's explanation

I do not propose to take any action with regard to Mr. Shand.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient humble servant,
